Getting scant playing time
Williams went without a target while playing five of the Steelers' 61 snaps on offense in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Cardinals.
Analysis: Williams has been active for each of Pittsburgh's last eight games but hasn't played more than 12 snaps on offense in any contest. He'll likely be in store for only limited playing time while fellow tight ends Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington and Connor Heyward are available.

Joins active roster
Williams was signed from the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Williams spent much of 2022 with Pittsburgh after going undrafted out of UT Martin and was with the team again during training camp and ultimately remained as a member of the practice squad. The 25-year-old has yet to play in an NFL game, but that is likely to change Sunday against the Ravens with his addition to the 53-man roster and Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) considered doubtful for the matchup.

Joins Pittsburgh's practice squad
The Steelers signed Williams to their practice squad Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: A 2022 UDFA, Williams spent most of his rookie campaign on the Steelers' practice squad and is looking at a similar role in 2023. The UT Martin product has yet to appear in a regular-season game, but he caught two of three targets for 15 yards across three preseason contests this year.

Analysis: Williams spent most of the 2022 campaign with the Steelers' practice squad and remained with the team during the offseason on a reserve/future deal. He didn't land a spot on the team's 53-man roster but could wind up on a practice squad again this year.
